Vince Busby, the owner, and his crew were EXCELLENT in their follow-up and meeting with us to design our new kitchen. He worked with us to keep some of the existing cabinetry and listened to our ideas on what we desired for a unique and one-of-a-kind granite table and island area. "I hired Distinctive Building Services to completely remodel a 1967 home in Charlotte. They gutted every bathroom, renovated the kitchen, refinished the hardwood floors, ripped out the old HVAC system and installed a new energy-efficient model, updated all the plumbing and electrical systems, raised the roof of the bonus room which economically added an additional 500 square feet of living space, removed multiple layers of old wallpaper, moved laundry room from closet in kitchen to upstairs to make it more functional for today's lifestyle, removed several interior walls to open the flow of the house, repointed the brick and repainted the exterior, added an office, exercise room and utility room on the main floor.
I was referred to Distinctive Building Services by one of my neighbors who used them to build a bar in their basement. I was impressed with the quality of their workmanship and attention to detail. I had already met with several other builders but none of them were comfortable with raising the roof and reconfiguring the HVAC system which proved to be a big challenge. Vince, the owner of Distinctive Building Services, has been in the construction business for more than 25 years and he knew just how to deal with these issues.
Vince helped me work through the design challenges and prioritize the project to make sure I made changes that added value to my home. We were able to keep the project within budget and I feel we really got value for the dollars spent. I now have a professional-style kitchen with all the bells and whistles, granite countertops throughout the home, a Rinnai on-demand water heater, new tile in all the bathrooms and a much-improved floorplan.
Working with Vince and his team of professionals was an absolute joy. He is very easy to talk to and when problems were discovered, as is to be expected with an older home, he was able to come up with cost-effective solutions. His level of integrity was a refreshing change of pace from many contractors I have worked with in the past.
Vince and his team made sure to keep the worksite clean and safe for my small children. The project was completed as scheduled and Vince was very accommodating when it came to last-minute design changes. He did not charge exorbitant fees to make those changes happen. His sub-contractors are top-notch professionals and they all worked together like a well-oiled machine.
Vince was very easy-going when it came to making draws on the project and I didn't feel like I was constantly being asked for money. He was able to save me thousands of dollars on finish materials by sending me to wholesale suppliers whenever possible. I can't say enough good things about Distinctive Building Services and would not hesitate to recommend them for any remodeling or home improvement project."
